Fitz Suen is an independent film director and photographer based in Hong Kong. She is devoted to all forms of digital storytelling, ranging from narrative shorts, documentaries, experimental film to photojournalism features.

Influenced by her studies in Journalism and Communication and Japanese Studies from CUHK, her stories mainly focuses in socialpolitical and cultural changes in East Asia, and ordinary life of Hong Kong people.

Her latest short film, "The House", is the official selection of the 2020 Golden Sugarcane Film festival, which is a fantasy story inspired by the Hong Kong pro-democracy movements and the 2020 Taiwan president election. She also writes and directs several award-winning shorts, some were screened in the Independent Film Awards London, Calcutta International Cult Film Festival and more.

Fitz has also been working as a visual journalist. Topics she has covered include the 2019 Hong Kong extradition protests, elections in East Asia and mountain villages in China.

 

She has worked with both local and international media, including The Wall Street Journal, Vice News, Radio Canada, Bloomberg Businessweek (Chinese) , RTHK and more.

She believes in the power of communication. By recording the world through an aesthetic perspective, she hopes to offer creative insight into the public sphere.
